Building Renovation
ART, Inc. and Moose Lodge 2656 are in the process of renovating the Broadway Events Center.
ART, Inc. is building a stage (done), creating a box office (done), painting the walls (they are primered), assembling the seats, hanging the donated curtains (grant in progress), organizing the costumes and props (done), putting in doors, and other tasks.
For the Moose, the first stage includes roofing the theater, putting in rest rooms, adding a concession area, and building walls in the Community Room, making a computer room and Moose office, and furnishing the teen area. This stage is nearly done! The second stage will be to add a full kitchen between the Community Room and the back Quonset hut (which will eventually be the Moose Lodge). The third stage will be parking improvement and building the facade on the front of the building.

Book Sale
A woman in Noti had an on-line book selling business. When she sold it, the gentleman who bought it did not want all of her inventory, so she gifted us with over 10,000 books! We are selling them to make money to renovate the Broadway Events Center and to pay our on-going bills.
The BEC Book Sale is closednright now because of the renovation. We look forward to opening it again as soon as we get "occupancy" from the city. We still have over 8,000 books for your browsing enjoyment. Fiction and non-fiction. Self-help, advice, finance, political, religious, computer, fitness, travel, languages, coffee table. Mystery, sci-fi, memoir, thriller, slice of life, inspirational. We have some of just about everything!! Come and see for yourself. And the price is right - - $2 each or 3 for $5. You can't beat it!

ART Beats
ART, Inc. regularly writes the ART Beats column in the Fern Ridge Review. Here is the latest column:
For the 8/11/10 issue
A lot has happened at the Broadway Events Center (BEC) in the last 6 months. The Moose have built walls, put in bathrooms, painted, and created a very usable space for the community to enjoy. ART, Inc. has completed the stage, primed the walls, moved the books, organized all the costumes and props, cleaned the theater, and are waiting for the Moose to put in electricity so we can put on some plays!
There is still more work to do, but the Broadway Events Center is becoming a reality. The Moose are going to have weekly Bingo, a computer room, a teen center, a concession stand and the Community Room. ART, Inc. is going to have plays, concerts, reader’s theater, Groundwaters Live!, arts classes, and other events.
Our first event will be Groundwaters Live! on Sunday, August 15th from 2pm to 4pm in the Community Room. You have read the magazine featuring local authors and poets – now you can hear some of the articles and poems read by the people who wrote them.

The Broadway Events Center’s mascot has been named! We looked at all the entries that were turned in during our SPRING FORWARD! Celebration and picked the ones we thought best fit the very pretty mannequin that graces the entrance to the BEC. Yes, the names. We decided that reBECca fit her when the event is serious – drama, murder mystery, lecture, etc. That name was suggested by Sandra Larson. When the event is more light-hearted – comedy, concert, dance, etc. she will be called Applegate Annie, in homage to Applegate Regional Theatre, Inc.. That name was suggested by Carlos Voltaire and Vicki Sourdry. Thank you all for your suggestions. There were some great ones. Come see the mascot, and us, at the Book Sale this Saturday between 11 and 3. It will be continuing every week for a while.
