Superstitions
Don't eat in the dressing room • Never put shoes on a table • Never put peacock feathers or a bowl of goldfish on stage • Some actors refuse to speak the last line of a play in rehearsals—worried it means the show'll flop!

What is Applegate Regional Theater?

Our Vision

To create a performing arts and community center in downtown Veneta. A place to enjoy plays, art shows, dances, concerts, classes, workshops, movies, meetings and celebrations - all without leaving the West Lane area.

Our Mission

To provide opportunities for the citizens of West Lane County to participate in the creation and presentation of performing and fine arts in a venue where enriching entertainment and educational programs are available and accessible to all.

Why We Are Doing This...

The Fern Ridge area, one of the fastest growing communities in Lane County, Oregon, is home to numerous non-profit community organizations. There is a wealth of talented, community minded residents working hard to raise the quality of life here. They come together at various locations that all have drawbacks to one degree or another. The consensus among these stake holders is that a central meeting location and clearing house, where all can disseminate information, is greatly needed.

Lane County is renowned for the quality and quantity of local performers and artists. Public support for the arts is enthusiastic. The closest performance venue in West Lane County is an hour round trip, mostly on a two lane highway and congested city streets.

Building a performing arts/community center in this area, as envisioned by ART, Inc., makes sense on several levels. It fulfills the need for a gathering place for youth, seniors, public service organizations, performers, artists, arts instruction, community celebrations, large community public meetings and, could serve as a central gathering location for response to major emergencies. The benefits to the business community are those that naturally accrue to an area identified as an arts and entertainment destination.

The benefits for contributing are: bringing cohesive vitality to the home town, encouraging an expanded variety of retail businesses, supporting local artists and attracting others, and enhancing the overall quality of life.
